A vehicle park entry permit is required; and can be purchased at the Visitor Center. With your admission you gain access to Rock Creek’s pristine site and park activities.

In addition, Fairbury has some extremely nice campgrounds close to our Fairbury City Park Softball Complex: Crystal Springs Campground (402-729-2148) is about 5 minutes southwest of Fairbury, Rock Creek Station (402-729-5777) is about 10 minutes southeast of Fairbury and Alexandria State Lakes (402-729-5777) is about 15 minutes northwest of Fairbury.

The first weekend in June gives locals and visitors a chance to travel back in time when covered wagons and the new railroad were the principle means of transportation along the trails that cut through the Fairbury area in southeast Nebraska.

Ride on miniature railroad, enjoy exhibits and model train displays at the Historic Rock Island Depot, located at 2nd (Bacon Road) and I Streets in Fairbury. The Fairbury Rock Island Depot, has been lovingly restored and filled with artifacts recounting the history of the Rock Island Railroad and the local residents who worked out of the Fairbury depot.
